About Us

The Gymnastics and Trampolining Club welcomes members of all abilities, from complete beginners to world class athletes. We hold gymnastics on Mondays and a few squad spaces on Wednesdays.

About us: We are the University of London gymnastics club and we hold gymnastics sessions with coaches for all abilities! We currently hold our main sessions on Monday evenings 8:30 to 10PM

Ever wanted to try gymnastics? Impress your friends with new and exciting moves? Come along to Gymnastics for your chance! Whether a beginner or experienced this is your chance to keep fit, learn new moves, make many new friends and even represent the University of London in competitions throughout the year.

What we do

Everyone is welcome to come along to sessions, either just to get fit and learn new moves or to train and represent in our many competitions. Sessions begin with a general warm-up and conditioning, and then divide into beginners and advanced. Those who are just beginning gymnastics or who are interested in working towards particular goals can work towards these, receiving expert coaching from our head coach, whilst advanced gymnasts are free to train on any of the pieces of apparatus within the gym. Our sessions are rounded off by the whole group coming together to condition and stretch.

Session times and venue

Our main sessions are held on a Monday 8:30PM to 10PM at Talacre Sports Centre in Kentish Town (NW5 3AF), which has a fully equipped purpose-built gym. As well as men six-piece and women's four-piece apparatus, it has a full size sprung floor, tumble track and a large foam pit.

This year we have also teamed up with the other London universities to provide more training opportunities to members! For more serious gymnasts, who are wishing to compete or just train more, we have a few spots on a Wednesday afternoon at 1:30PM to 3:30 PM. In addition, there is the possibility to train extra at the other university sessions as a member of UoL gymnastics on a first come first served basis if there is space!

Competitions

We compete in the University gymnastics cup (UGC) and BUCs! Competitions occur throughout the year in November, February, March and May and it is a great opportunity to meet different gymnasts from all over the country and experience a team bonding experience! Please note that competition does not mean you have to be incredibly experienced! Competitions are carried out at all levels from novice all the way to elite and anyone can compete!

Throughout the years we have had numerous medal winners both as individuals (both apparatus and all around) as well as medalling as a team! There is opportunity to compete at any category (novice to elite) and be sure to approach committee if you wish to compete!

Achievements

We entered a number of gymnasts into the Birmingham competition, in the novice, intermediate and advanced levels, winning medals in each of the categories and coming 3rd overall as a university. Additionally, we entered the Loughborough competition with competitors in the intermediate and advanced levels, winning 10 medals between a team of 6. The women's team placed 10th overall at BUCS, with a very successful competition and individual top 10 scores on both bars and vault. Our advanced men's level 1 gymnast also competed at BUCS at the highest level, performing particularly high difficulty moves and receiving excellent individual scores.

We achieved multiple gold, silver and bronze individua medals at the University gymnastics competitions and some of our gymnasts individually made the top 8 at BUCs in the the intermediate Men's categories!

We also produced a short film about, involving everyone in the making of the film and choreographing a short display for this film.
